Toddler Program
One of Skytown's most unique features is our Toddler program, especially tailored to offer fun in a small group setting for children 18 months to 3 years old.
The Toddler program is held in a separate, cozy, smaller classroom, with furniture scaled for little people. The classroom offers choices for children in their play, such as an easel for painting, a table for art activities, a book corner with comfy foam furniture, a kitchen and dress-up area, and easy access to soft blocks, puzzles, manipulative toys, and small wheel toys.
The outdoor play space connects with, but is separate from, the the larger Preschool yard, and includes a play structure with slide, a water table, a small playhouse, riding and push toys, and a spacious sand area.
Enrollment in the program is limited to 12 children per day, under the direct supervision of one lead teacher, working with one co-teacher and assisted by member parents to maintain a ratio of one adult for every three Toddlers. The program runs from 9:00 AM to 12 noon and children may attend 3, 4, or 5 days per week.
Typical daily activities in the Toddler room include painting, playing with play dough, singing songs and listening to music tapes, outdoor play, reading stories, and a group snack time. Toddlers also occasionally venture outside the yard for supervised nature walks, longer trike rides, or to play on a nearby grassy field.
Children in diapers are the norm and assistance is given to those in the various stages of toilet training. In the Toddler program we recognize the importance of giving extra special attention, support, and nurturing to children who are separating from parents for the first time.
